Forty Days of Purpose Mission Fair

Sunday, April 2

(following the 10 a.m. worship service)

"What you are is God's gift to you: What you do with yourself is your gift to God."  - Danish Proverb

Where do the gifts of time and money given so freely and generously by the congregation of First Baptist Church go?

         How effective are our gifts?

Are we truly meeting the needs of others outside our close-knit and comfortable circles?

Could we do more?  How?  Where?  When?

Come and greet:  We are honored to have representatives coming from The Divinity School, Habitat for Humanity, Cameron Community Center, Pal-Mac Food Panty, Fairport Baptist Homes, Baptist Camping in NYS and CAPE.  All will be present with displays interpreting their various organizations and concerns.

Come and meet:  Take time to visit each table and converse with our guests.  Perhaps some of the above questions will be answered for you.  You may find a new way to use the GIFT God has given you to GIVE to others.

Come to the Mission Fair!  Delicious refreshments will be served during the coffee hour in the Fellowship Hall.

Are you interested in any of the art work on display in the fellowship hall?  We are having a silent auction for all of these beautiful pieces.  You'll be able to take home your favorite piece on Celebration Sunday, April 9th.  Money from this auction will be given to missions.

Spring is just around the corner —the youth group is taking orders for memorial flowers for Easter. Lilies, tulips, daffodils, spring mums or hyacinths can be ordered and will decorate our sanctuary on Easter Sunday.  The 6” pots are only $8 / each and the profits will go to support our youth group in various church functions.  See any member of the youth group.

A Message from C.A.P.E.:  If your pockets seem a little heavy and weighed down, it might be because of the pocket change you are carrying.  You can find relief by putting that change in one of our barn banks.  They are located near the entrance doors and by the coffee service in the fellowship hall.  Your pockets and your heart will feel lighter.  The money collected goes for purchasing farm animals for people in need through the Heifer project.  Thank you!

Dear Members & Friends of Macedon Baptist Church, Looking around our community and across our country, we can see countless people in need of Jesus' love and healing touch.  You may wonder, as I do, what one person or one church can do to meet so many needs.  That's why I want to tell you about the wonderful difference we can make through our America for Christ gifts.

In his book Soul Tsunami, Leonard Sweet says that the United States is the third largest mission field in the world.  In 2005, there were 76 million unchurched Americans!  That is about one-third of all adults, yet seven out of ten adults say having a close, personal relationship with God is a top priority.

As American Baptist, the America for Christ Offering gives us a unique opportunity to respond to those startling facts.  America for Christ gifts support mission in this country - including mission in our own area through our region's ministries - and extend our witness for Jesus Christ in the United States and Puerto Rico.

During worship service in April, we will raise awareness of this important mission opportunity.  Our church's goal for this year's America for Christ Offering is $550.  I am confident if we set our hearts and minds to it, we can accomplish this goal.  Lives are being changed for the cause of Christ, and every dollar you give makes a difference.  In Support of Christ's mission, Samantha, Mission Chair, Board of Christian Education

A Winter's Verse for "Morning is Breaking" - Phil

Soft the snows new fall, sparkling from heaven

Like the first snow fall on the first lands.

Praise for the beauty of the white gardens

Sleeping 'till springtime under His hands

Dear Church Family, Thank you so much for the Valentine's Day package!  Sorry it has taken so long for a reply, my semester is turning out to be non-stop just go-go-go!  It's enjoyable though, keeps me very busy!  Hope things are well over there.  Thanks again for the package and prayers, Sincerely, Lindsey

Dear Church Family, Thank you so much for the delicious Valentine's candy!  It's so nice to be thought of by you all.  I will be graduating in May (on the 13th) so this will be last year at Roberts!  I can't believe these 4 years have gone by so fast!  Thank you all for all your love and support over the years.  Love, Lisa

P.S.  I will be graduating with a B.S. in Marketing

Dear Pastor Carol, We thought you might find the article from our local paper interesting.  I hope our church never considers doing it!!!  Ken and I enjoy playing golf and seeing our North Carolina friends.  Hope our Macedon Church Family is doing well and your sister-in-law continues to improve.  We send our love and prayers to you all.  Sincerely, Ken & Jean

Ed. Note:  Enclosed with the Reynold's note was an article describing individual disposable Communion kits, a plastic cup of juice with pull-off top including a wafer of bread in a specially designed pocket.

Everyone at the First Baptist Church, Thank you so much for helping me and my daughter out.  It was very generous of you.  Thank you for helping me.  Love, Kiersten

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, I want to thank you for praying for me during my recent bout with cancer.  It's wonderful to know that brethren were approaching the throne of grace for help in time of need on my behalf!  There was NO cancer in the lymph nodes and all the cancer was completely removed via the surgery.  Thank you, Lord!  No chemotherapy required - whew!  I'm in my 6th week of convalescence and each day I'm stronger with less pain.  Of an interesting note to you of God's sense of humor and special touch of encouragement as a token for good is this:  1) When I called the hospital for pre-op details, 'Angel' answered the phone.  2) When I got to the hospital, the insurance person was named 'Angelic'!! (not Angelique).  3) When I got to the gynecological oncologist office, the doctor's name was 'Cynthia Angel'!  4) On the last night before going home from the hospital, a nurse came in and shared her heart with Larry and me for over an hour.  She was very sad.  Her last name was 'Gabriel"...  Valerie  (wife of Larry, the Mailman)

P.S.  91:11 For He shall give His angels charge over thee...

PS: 34:7 The Angel of the Lord encamps around about them that fear Him and delivers them

P.S.  Please don't stop praying!

I am writing this for Alice - she wants you to know how very much she appreciated your sending her a card, and also the prayers that go with it.  She is alone and in a great deal of pain with a cracked back bone.  She says:  Thank You!  Thank You!  Thank You!  Alice

Dear Macedon Baptist Church:  Thank you so much for the donations to the Victim Resource Center.  Your donations are always needed and greatly appreciated by the families that stay at our domestic violence safe dwelling.  The Victim Resource Center is a not-for-profit private agency that depends on small grants and the support of individuals, schools, churches, local agencies, and area business.  We continue to focus on the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in our community, striving to do our very best at representing these victims, children and families.  We provide shelter, counseling, and legal, medical and community advocacy for these victims from our community - all at no cost to the clients we serve.  Our continuing goal is to expand these services along with creating new community outreach and preventative educational program.  The support of community organizations, area businesses and special donors allows our organization to continue to meet the needs of this very special segment of our community.  Once again, thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity.  Sincerely, Kayli H. Collins, DV & Safe Dwelling Advocate
