"A FAMILY CHURCH WITH A COMMUNITY SPIRIT" JANUARY 2006

Trustee of the month for January is Dick W. Please contact Dick for any issues of the church building.

Planning Ahead: Reports for the Annual Report are due to Sue by Sunday, January 8, 2006. Please put in Sue's mailbox. Thanks!

CLEANING PERSON(S) NEEDED: The Trustees are asking for your help. Do you know someone that would be interested in cleaning our church? We are looking for a new cleaning person(s). If you might have a connection with someone of interest, please leave a message on the church answering machine. The Trustees will be happy to follow up! Or talk to Sue or Tom. Thanks!

January brings many things: salt on the roads, shoppers exchanging Christmas gifts, broken New Year's resolutions. Unfortunately, however, we'll be seeing less of each other during the month. My hours at church will be less due to two intensive classes at seminary (Baptist Policy and a course on Islam) and trips to Pennsylvania where I hope to receive a ministerial license from my home region, an important required step toward ordination. As a result, I will be unable to do as many home visitations and must cancel Thursday night Bible study during January but will resume both as of February 2. Meanwhile, have a wonderful New Year and best of luck with those resolutions! God bless, David

The Bell Choir will be practicing on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 9 to 11 starting January 7th. If you can count to 4, you can play bells. We are in need of new players in order to make use of all our wonderful bells. Please consider joining us in making music to worship God. Call Janet with any questions.

Women's Philathea News: I want to thank Pat for hosting the Philathea Christmas party. A good time was had by all that attended with good food and fellowship. Jane did the program, The Christmas Story. Our next meeting will on January 18th at 7 p.m. at Barbara P.'s home. Jean will be presenting the program. Have a happy and safe New Year. Luke 8-14: That night some shepherds were in the fields outside the village, guarding their flock of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord's glory surrounded them. They were terribly frightened. But the angel reassured them. Don't be afraid, he said, I bring you great news of great joy for everyone. The Savior, yes the Messiah the Lord has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David. And this is how you will recognize him. You will find a baby lying in a manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth. Suddenly the angel was joined by a vast host of others, the armies of heaven praising God, Glory to God in the highest heaven and peace on earth to all whom God favors. Betty

Family Fund - Fairport Baptist Homes: This fund is for the enjoyment of the residents (and has nothing to do with the gift from our church for the Homes upkeep). The women of the Service Board purchase magazines, newspapers, holiday treats, flowers for special occasions and anything we can do to make their golden years brighter. When you make your contribution, know it will add much joy to the lives of the residents. We ask you to put your contribution into an enveloped marked "Family Fund" and drop it in the plate on Sunday, February 12 or February 19. (If you prefer, a check made out to Women's Service Board/Family Fund.) Please mark your calendar, and prayerfully consider what you can give. Marion, Key Woman
