THE CHALLENGE RANGERS ARE LOOKING FOR GOOD
MEN AND WOMEN: Oops!
I mean the Executive Committee is looking for people to take a role in the FBC
functions for 2006. All the boards and most committees need people to replace
those who have filled their terms or have moved. DON'T be a do nothing and
complainer, instead volunteer for a position or opening. DON'T be a stay at home
TV addict, I know I've done it and it's boring. YOU'VE heard it before but
nevertheless it is still true: a team is a group effort, a good group effort
produces good results and good results come from a synergistic team of members
willing to jump in and do what needs be done. Besides it is a good way to know
more about others in the church. Consult your annual report and/or contact the
Executive Committee; it consists of Pastor Carol, the chairpersons of the
boards, the moderator and vice moderator. Let us know of your interest. Thanks!
We hope to hear from you soon. Vice Moderator Mert B.
Bazaar and Quilt Show: Calling all bear collectors! Bazaar featuring bears! Lets get wild about Jesus event for this
month is the Annual Bazaar November 11 and 12.
New this year is a quilt show in the sanctuary along with the bazaar and
luncheon. The committee is as
follows: Pat B.- Kitchen; Lorna D. -
Bake Sale; Quilt Show – Bunny L. and Quilt Works in Palmyra; Crafts - all of
us. Help will be needed for setup
Thursday and workers Friday and Saturday and tear down Saturday afternoon. Thanking you in advance for helping with
this annual event. We need quilts, wall
hangings, old and new, tops, etc. We
hope to have an evaluator there for those who would like to know more about a
quilt they may have. A flyer is
enclosed. If you know of a place to
post it that would be great. A signup
sheet will be in the fellowship hall soon.
We welcome any suggestions you may have.
Board of Christian Ed: November 20 is Thanksgiving Sunday! We will be having ONE service at 10AM, with dinner following. There will be a sign up for food to bring. Please plan on joining us for a wonderful time of fellowship. Advent is around the corner! Sunday, November 27 is the first Sunday of Advent. We will be celebrating by having a craft workshop in the fellowship hall between services. There will be crafts and gifts to make. Don't miss this opportunity to ring in the season! Our Nursery and Children's Church programs are in need of help! Please sign up to spend an hour with our babies and children. See Sam F. or Carol B. to help. Thanks!
Women's Philathea News: I want to start out by thanking Lorna for
hosting the September meeting and the yum yum desserts. Pastor Carol did a great job with the
program as usual. The ABWM fall meeting
at the Newark Baptist Church on
October 8 had a small turn out. There
were six from our church. There was
plenty of food and desserts. Meeting
went well. There are two positions that
need to be filled; one church & community ministries and one corresponding
& recording secretary. If any women
are interested, call Donna A. There was
a missionary speaker by the name of Herb Rogers. He spoke about Hattie. We
learned some about their culture. I
would like to thank Pastor Carol, Jane B., Robbin H., Ralph D., Marilyn B.,
Joan P., Barb P., Retta S., Carol T., Lorna D., Jean B., Ruth W., Beverly O.,
Debbie W., Sue D., BYF, music, choral. I
hope I haven't forgotten any one for helping with Women's Sunday and for making
it a success. Our special mission project
collected $420. With our new theme we
hope your life changed a little, and will become wild about Jesus. November 7th at noon, Baptist Day of Prayer
at Williamson. Program (seeking with
new eyes). Bring lunch, dessert will be provided by the host. November 12 & 13 is the bazaar. If anyone would like to clean out their
closets and help donate to Cameron Community Center. Outside the clothes that Robbin has mentioned, the need is for of
kids clothes. Call Jean B. or Donna A. They would be glad to help out in any way
with the donations of clothes. Our
November 16 meeting will be at Retta's home.
Bunny L. will be doing the program on Being Still (slow down). No one can see God, but Jesus Christ is exactly
like him. He ranks higher than
everything that has been made. Through
his power all things were made, things in heaven and on earth, things seen and
unseen, all powers authorities, lords and rulers. All things we made through Christ and for Christ. He was there before anything was made, and
all things continue because of him. Living
praises by Kenneth Boa. Betty S.
Joys & Concerns: My name is .__________. I was here for an AA meeting on Saturday, October 15 and I was in
need of something in your care package box.
I hope you don't mind if I took a toothpaste and brush. I lost everything recently and I know God is
good. Joys!: Helen & Bill P.
celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary!
Congratulations to Jennifer G. and Tony P. on their engagement. Christian

Dear
Church, Thank you for your prayers. A
medical procedure at Good Samaritan Hospital with an overnight stay led to
another procedure at Los Gatos hospital again an overnight stay which leads to
another procedure at Valley Medial Hospital this week - the 5th - and hopefully
some answers. The strength and upholding
of yours and others prayers certainly is felt - no distance (coast to coast)
can overtake the power of prayers and God's love and care. I will continue to be in touch. Good thoughts to the loving church of my
youth.
"JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW BECAUSE THE
CHURCH OF MY YOUTH TAUGHT ME SO."

The Forgotten Place
By:
Trevor
When I sleep I dream of this wonderful
Place in the sky, but then
it's just in my head.
It won't be long before I'm
there; just one more
Day and I will be delivered
to the place
that is high up in the sky
where angels
Lie. One-day, one more day to wait till my
return.
It is where life starts and
one-day returns.
Then I thought I saw a
wonderful
Sight, I thought it was an
angel
But it couldn't be they're
just in my head,
I thought. Then I saw the place
Again, but it was not, it
was something more.
It looked like it must be
more
Than just a place in my
head.
I was wondering if I was in
that place
But it couldn't be, because
it was more wonderful
Than I ever imagined inside
my head.
Also, it must be it,
because there are angels
All around me, ---
everywhere there are angels
If this is not it, for sure
it is more
Beautiful than home. --- Home was now just in my head.
I missed it and my friends,
but did not wish to return
Because this place is a
whole lot more wonderful
Than my house and friends
in the Worldly place.
Now that I'm in this angel
filled place I felt no longing to return
It now seemed there was
more to me in this wonderful
Place, In my hear I thought I had wings, --- I do in this
forgotten place.

great grandson, Gladys' grandson, Patti's youngest son. He wrote a poem for his senior English class

Mabel died early September 30.
Trevor read his poem at her funeral October 3 in Marion. This is a part of it. Pastor Carol
Dear Friends,
Kindness is the golden chain by which society is bound together. -Goethe-
What would we do without your kindness?
You are one of the links in the golden chain that binds us
together. And your recent donation
literally helped hold us together. We
cannot than you enough. God bless
you, Janis Thomason-Mussen, Executive
Direction, Wayne County Rural Ministry / Come-Unity Center, Inc.
Thank you for your
continued support of Habitat's ministry in Wayne County. We also appreciate your congregation's
support of the bike-a-thon. We had 45

people in need with affordable shelter.

Dear Friends, For
over 80 years the Upstate Homes for Children has given new opportunities to
people in need. We remain forever
committed to providing choices, support and hope to those that need our help
most. This spirit has enabled the
Upstate Homes to touch the lives of over 500 children, adults and families each
day. Thank you for helping to make this
possible. As we continue to reach out
to children, families and adults affected by a developmental disability your
assistance is more important then ever.
Together with the support of people like you the Upstate Homes for Children
and Adults will continue to provide hope and opportunities for people in need,
well in to the future. Thank you for
your gift of $475.00 in support of our mission. Each gift we receive helps us to meet the changing needs of
people with developmental disabilities.
Thank you for your help in making our work possible. Gratefully Yours, Patricia E. Kennedy,
Executive Direction
Dear Friends,
Greetings from Bacone! On behalf of all
of our students I would like to express our appreciation for your recent gift
to the College. It is clear to me that
with faithful support like yours, we will be able to meet their needs. This letter will serve as your official receipt
for your gift of $120.00. I would also
like to share some encouraging news:
·
Our student Praise Team is
stronger this year and will be visiting several churches during Fall Break and
through the month of November!
·
A new lodge, named The
Kiva, is now open. Our alumni, Native
Learning Work Community, Native Cultural Clubs, and Gamma Delta Pi Sorority
have held several meetings during the month of September. The Kiva is open to the public and we invite
to stop by for a tour and a cup of coffee.
·
Exciting things are
continuing to happen in the classroom - I can attest to this first hand. Both my children, Rob & Christin, are
Bacone students!
As
you can see we are making real progress just the right people have come
together here at just the right time; progress that is directly enabled by your
vision for our future that is expressed in your extraordinary financial
support. You are making a difference and this letter simply expresses the
heart-felt thanks of everyone here.
Sincerely, Rev. Dr. Robert J. Duncan, Jr., President, Associate
Professor of Religion

Dear Mary, On
behalf of the clients served by Our Homeless Youth Program, allow me to thank
you and the members of the First Baptist Church for your generous
donation. As you are obviously aware,
our homeless youth clients are greatly underserved and in need of significant
assistance. During these difficult
economic times, our agency is struggling even more than usual to provide
clients with the high-quality services that they need and deserve. I anticipate using your donation to help us provide
our clients with the basic items that most of us take for granted: food, clothing, and hygiene items. I assure you that we will spend this money
is a responsible manner, and that we will stretch your donation to the fullest
extent. Thank you so much for thinking
of our agency. It is a pleasure to have
developed a relationship with you and your church, and we are grateful for your
generosity. Sincerely, Trey Lockhart,
Executive Director, Wayne Pre-Trial Services, Inc. and Wayne County Homeless Youth
Program
