Mother's
Day is just around the corner! The
Board of Christian Ed is honoring all moms by donating to the Victim Resource
Center of Wayne County. We are inviting
everyone to also donate to this emergency relief shelter in honor of Mother's
Day. The Center is in need of towels,
pots and pans, pillows (new), and dishes.
If you would like to donate any of these items, there will be a box in
the church fellowship hall. The center
would also appreciate any monetary donations.
The Board of Christian Ed will be giving out "Thank you
scrolls" noting that a donation has been made to this cause. As Matthew 25:40 reminds us, "The King
will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these
brothers of mine, you did for me'".

Women's Ministries News:
We will be having our next meeting at Donna's home at 7 p.m. on May
18th. We will be having election of
officers and our Tea Cup Auction. This
is the time to do your spring-cleaning of closets. I am sure there is something that you can part with for the auction. And don't forget Lorna, you got to give up
the custodian of the cows. Hope the
cows did not give you too much trouble.
Grow closer to God with the passing years. Keep your face upturned to him as the flowers do to the sun. Look, and your soul shall live and
grow. 2 Peter 3:18 Grow in grace and in
the knowledge of your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Betty
Joys & Concerns: Concerns: Roy, Carol's father, was hospitalized with abdominal pain and is
home now and doing better. Eamonn Riley
was born to Stacey and Tim on March 15th.
He was born prematurely and is now home and progressing. Brian, a friend of Ryan, broke his right arm
and his left wrist while playing indoor soccer. Heather, cousin of Bill & Kathy, underwent a bone marrow
transplant to treat Hodgkin's disease.
Norman underwent esophageal surgery.
Ted, Milly's brother-in-law underwent surgery for lung cancer and it was
totally removed and successful. He is
still facing treatment and he thanks the congregation very much for our
prayers. Bob, Milly's brother is
suffering with complications from diabetes.
Marilyn was suffering from shingles.
She is doing better now. Newborn
grandson of Barbara and David is having difficulties. Ken was hospitalized at Clifton with complications from
congestive heart failure. Ralph, Dana's
father, is suffering from double pneumonia.
Christian Sympathy is extended
to: family and friends of Bea who
went home to the Lord. Betty K. went
home to the Lord on March 12th. Her
memorial service was held at First Baptist Macedon on March 17th. Chick, Ron and families on the loss of
Chick's sister, Connie, who passed away suddenly. The family of Dena who died after a courageous battle with breast
cancer. Family and friends of Paul,
Barbara's brother-in-law who passed away.
Joys! Jane, Joanne and newborn Matteo had a
wonderful visit with Nancy in Colorado on April 16. Nancy was practicing for a recital - she was going to play the
right hand, a friend the left. Nancy, a
former student pastor, is recovering from a massive stroke suffered one year
ago. She just turned 41. We have been praying for Dan, friend of
Kathy & Bill, who was suffering from cancer and he is now cancer free. Jason, Bill & Helen's son-in-law is a
1st class Navy Seaman who completed a very difficult 3 part AP course in 3
months time. He is the first person in
both of the Navy & Marine Corps to have completed this course. Congratulations!
Hi Pastor Carol, I'm so glad to sit down
and finally write...There's lots of recitals going on that I play in or watch
and it's all been going well. One of my
best friends had her senior French Horn recital and I played with her and that
was really great. Tonight is our Wind
Ensemble concert and then the whole group will have a bonfire and hangout after
so that will be fun.
Even in my busyness, I think of you all and miss you. I got to see Carol B. at the Mother-Daughter
Banquet I went to with my Mom last weekend.
That was SO nice.
So
guess what, I really like doing physical therapy!! :) Isn't that cool?! My
doctor is really really great and I feel very comfortable with her and secure
that she knows what she is doing and is taking a good plan of action to help
me. She is smart to try different
things and what seems to work we stick with and what doesn't and makes things
worse, we throw out for now, and add a different exercise. Since I used to want to be an holistic
doctor, this is all very fascinating to me and I ask lots of questions during my
treatment. I can tell a huge difference
in my playing stamina for oboe. And
there are parts of my day I don't hurt at all and to see how far I've come and
trust that it will continue in time.
(Hopefully not in a long long time.)
Please thank everyone for their prayers and let them know I'm making
progress and I sooo appreciate their support.
I
hope to be in touch soon. In Him,
Jessica
Thank you very much for all you have done
for me and my family. We love you. God bless everyone. Thank you very much, from Luiza and family
Dear Board of Christian Education, Thank
you very much for the Valentine's goodies.
I enjoyed them a lot, along with everyone else on the floor. It's nice to be remembered by my Church
Family when I'm away from home at college.
I'm really enjoying it at RPI. I
enjoyed playing football. I was only on JV this year but we were
undefeated. I didn't wrestle this year,
but hopefully I'll have more time next year for it. Thanks again, Bryan W.
Dear Friends: Congratulations! Rosalie has
chosen to honor your Church as a recipient of a brass leaf on the Fairport
Baptist Homes' Wall of Remembrance.
This tribute is a permanent remembrance, proudly displayed on our
beautiful Tree of Life in the McKnight Room at the Home. Please visit us at your convenience to view
your tribute, generously donated by Rosalie to honor the First Baptist Church
of Macedon. Sincerely, Meredith S,
Development Associate
It
looks lovely and is such a tribute.
Our name is well placed and easily found - come see. Pastor Carol
To our Pastor, Executive and or Area
Minister friends: Bill and I want to
say a big thank you to each of you for the way in which you have shown your
love and concern for us during these last five and half weeks. The response from so many has been
unbelievable with messages of hope, encouragement, promises of prayer and
jokes! To date, we have received over
250 cards, 500 or more e-mail between us, and other expressions of love! Many of you have forwarded this message to other
area ministers and individual churches - no doubt, that is the reason for the
volume of mail. Would it be possible
for you to acknowledge our gratitude and we really appreciate the fact that
many people sign their names and include the name of their church. This is a big help. Thank you also to Pastors and Area Ministers
who are doing updates in their newsletters.
As we read these messages, we are encouraged! Feel free to send this letter as written, if you so desire. Blessings on you and your ministry. We pray for you daily. Bill and Marg
Ed Note: Rev'd Bill, our WBA Field
Minister, was recently diagnosed with acute leukemia. He received treatment at Highland Hospital, where he has been
hospitalized most of the past five weeks.
Write to him at home.
Dear Friends: Thank you very much for your support of our programs. Your contribution of $475 was gratefully
received. Gifts like yours allow us to
continue to serve our neighbors in the Lyell Avenue area. This time of year, the weather in unpredictable. One day it is in the 50s the next it is
snowing. We set clocks ahead, and the
change of daylight plays havoc with our internal clocks. The numbers in our hot lunch program
fluctuate dramatically with the time of the month, the arrival of food stamps,
benefits and the weather. Last week we
had days when we fed 120 or more guests.
This week has seen numbers of 70.
It is hard to plan menus for these changing days. The thing we can count on is that we will
always have guests. And the think our
Guests can count on is that we will be here offering hospitality. Last week, Rick, one of our regular guests
came in. We hadn't seen him for several
weeks. Karen W. greeted him and said
"We're glad to see you! We
wondered where you were!" Rick
looked taken aback. He was surprised
that he had been missed. It turns out
Rick has gotten a job. It's not
permanent, but he has been putting in as many hours as possible. "Thanks for watching out for me,"
he said, "It's nice to be missed."
We like to think we offer community as well as food. The Hot Lunch Program is one of Cameron's
enduring offerings. We appreciate the
support of donors and volunteers who believe in our mission, and keep our work
in thought and prayers. Bless you for
your faithful gifts that allow us to be constant presence in the Cameron
Community. Yours in Christ's
service, Kathy P, Executive Director,
Cameron Community Ministries
Dear Ministry Partners, It has been about a
month since I first sent the message concerning Rev. Bill Kerr's leukemia
diagnosis. Much as happened since
then. Bill is home now and there is a
positive report. Round one of chemo
took care of 92% of the cancer cells.
His wife Marg reports that his doctor looked at Bill and told him he was
a miracle. God has been at work and we
are full of Thanksgiving. Next week
they will learn when round two of chemo will start. As Marg says: "Thank you, Thank you for walking this path
with us." Thank you for your
continued prayers for Bill, Marg and family.
Mary S, ABC of New York State
P.S.
And Marg adds - -please pray that Bill does not get a fever! Pastor Carol
American Baptist Churches USA News: Contributions by American Baptists to relief
efforts in the wake of the late December tsunami in southern Asia and eastern
Africa stand at more that $1,850,000 through February, according to World
Relief Officer Lisa Rothenberger. The
One Great Hour of Sharing tsunami relief response is by far the largest ever
received from American Baptists for a single disaster or crisis. At Baptist World Aid meetings last week
Rothenberger met with representatives from Baptist groups, "who also
report unprecedented giving and a challenge to spend the money effectively and
efficiently." She noted that
emergency response efforts by non-government organizations and to her secular
bodies "have been very strong and carried some the burden that in other
situations Christian funding would need to provide for." This will enable the American Baptists
response and that of other denominations to focus on the long-term
rehabilitation efforts. "Helping
people recover from disaster means not only meeting emergency needs, but also
working with them to transition into recover and rehabilitation
activities," Rothenberger said. "This
takes time and planning and also wise allocation of available resources over an
extended period to trust partners. We are moving forward doing just that. Rothenberger will be travelling to Indonesia
in April to meet with Church World Service relief workers and others who have
been directly involved in relief ministries.
American Baptists can continue to response to the ongoing crisis in Asia
by contributing online of the "Give Now" option available either
www.Abcusamissions.org or www.abc-use.org
Churches doing this will receive credit for OGHS giving. All contributions should be marked
"OGHS-Asian Tsunami Relief."
