"A FAMILY CHURCH WITH A COMMUNITY SPIRIT"                                        MARCH 2005

Memorial Easter Flowers: Sarah is handling the flower sale this year. Lilies, Tulips, Daffodils, Hyacinths and Spring Mums can be purchased for $6 and will be used to decorate the sanctuary on Easter Sunday. She is also willing to deliver flowers to shut-ins in the area. You can order from her during church, or phone her. Please let her know who the memorial flowers are purchased for or who you would like them delivered to when you place your order. Thanks!

The Purpose Driven Life: Would you be interested in participating in a group and reading a book that will help you understand why you are alive and God's amazing plan for you--both here and now, and for eternity. Our church is hoping to study THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE in the fall of this year. Rick Warren, author, will guide you through a personal 40-day spiritual journey that will transform your answer to life's most important questions: What on earth am I here for? Knowing God's purpose for creating you will reduce your stress, focus your energy, simplify your decisions, give meaning to your life, and most importantly, prepare you for eternity. If you would be interested in working on the team to prepare for this amazing journey for Macedon Baptist, please contact Pastor Carol or Mary R.

Women's Ministries News: We will be having our next meeting on March 16 at Barbara F's home at 7:30 p.m. Sue B. will be doing the program. Thank you to Jane B. for hosting the February meeting at your home and for the super program you did. The program was making a valentine for God, Psalm 57:7 My heart is steadfast. O God my heart is steadfast. Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. Have a glad heart. Anxious thoughts make the day evil. If you expect to have a dismal day, you will be unpleasant yourself. Evil forebodings ruin the day. But faith makes the heart glad and brings miraculous results. If you want to have a good day, raise your expectations to be in line with God's word. Betty

Diaconate (Board of Deacons) Doings: Our third annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper went very well. Thank you Dick R, Al B. (and family), and Dennis M. for the pancakes and sausage. It looked like a good time was had by all. We thank the BB Band for entertaining us after dinner. A total of $120 was added to the Samaritan’s Purse through your offering, food was donated by Deacons. We invite one and all tour Maundy Thursday special supper and service on March 24th. Supper at 6 p.m. Service at table at 7 p.m. We will again be having a buffet of finger food. No dessert. No silverware to be used. Some suggestion of what to bring: cut up raw vegetables or fruit, cheese and crackers, fruit bread or small muffins and rolls, small sandwiches, your favorite appetizer! Please bring a candle for your dinner table and your favorite finger food and join us for an evening of fellowship and remembrance. A Lenten thought from Isaiah: 53:5,6. "All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to our own way. But the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Thank you, Lord! Jane B, Chairperson Diaconate

Dear Friends, Thank you all for your love, cards, prayers, and good wishes for our wedding. It means so much to us to have such a wonderful and caring church family who is always there for us. The help we have received from you has been overwhelming and heart warming. Special thanks to Dick for his dedicated shoveling efforts above and beyond the call. Thank you to the greatest Scullery Crew! You were all amazing and hard working. Things went so smoothly it was almost like you were "invisible." Your love makes our hearts smile. To the Baptist Babes - thank you for the fun and wet blessings! It was a blast! Thank you wedding coordinators (Mom & Dad) we love you. It was a privilege to have Carol perform our ceremony as a friend as well as Pastor. You have all made our wedding day a wonderful gift. You have enriched our lives in so many ways with your love. Thanks be to God for all of you. Ron & Janet S.

I have known for many years that I am truly blessed to be part of the Macedon Baptist church family. I was reminded again of the warmth and love of this congregation during my recent experience with the shingles. I sincerely thank everyone for their cards, prayers, kind thoughts and loving words during this time. Thank you, Rev. Haddad, for knocking on my door 32 years ago and inviting me to the best church anywhere. Mary R.

Dear Pastor Carol and Church Members - Thank you for all the prayers and cards during my recovery. Also for the flowers and mostly the visit in the hospital, Carol. It is greatly appreciated. Love - June V.

Dear Friends, It is truly a special blessing when a beautiful card arrives filled with love and prayer from kind and considerate people you have never met. I can't thank you enough for thinking of me and praying for me during my recent illness and hospitalization. I am much better now, thank you. Although I am thousands of miles away, your love and prayers found me when I needed them most. Thank you for reaching out to me in my time of need. Kathy J, Round Rock, Texas - daughter-in-law of Alice E.

An Invitation to Peaceful Christians: Shirley Way will be at Farmington Friends March 6 at 1 p.m. Shirley, a member of Central Finger Lakes Meeting, felt led to protest the School of the Americas by crossing over the boundary, knowing she would be arrested and serve prison time. Shirley will share her experiences and spiritual journey. Please come and hear about how God can lead someone to a stance of civil disobedient. In January 2004, Shirley Way's trial statement began:

I am a member of the Religious Society of Friends or a Quaker and unite with the friends peace testimony.

I believe that there is that of God in every human being.

So every person is sacred.

So all war is wrong.

All killing is wrong.

Violence in all its forms is wrong.

All are welcome. Expect to be challenged and inspired!

Dear Friends, Thank you very much for your support of our programs. Your contribution of $207 was gratefully received. Gifts like yours allow us to continue to serve our neighbors in the Lyell Avenue-Otis street area. We look at the new slate of the year before us. So many things to accomplish, so many people to be served. In our excitement and haste, we tend to think of "new ways" and "new programs." The key to succeeding at anything new is keeping the established ordinances as our foundation. To welcome each person as Christ. To care for the least among us. To put love of God first, and then to love each neighbor as ourselves. We appreciate the support that comes from our donors and volunteers who believe in our mission, and keep our work in their thoughts and prayers. Bless you for your faithful gifts that allow us to keep serving with hopeful hearts. Yours in Christ's service, Kathy Pearce, Executive Director, Cameron Community Ministries

Dear Friends of Children and Youth: Each year many children experience the death of someone close to them: family members, friends, neighbors, classmates, teachers. Whether these deaths were expected or unexpected, children do grieve. Yes, they grieve differently in some ways than do adults, but they do grieve and mourn their losses. Stepping Stones of Genesee Region Home Care is a bereavement support group for children and youth who have lost a loved one, and for the adults who care for them. Trained adults, who share a passion for helping these young people, will facilitate the program, to start on March 2nd. Sessions will be held at St. Michael School in Newark from 6:45 to 8 p.m. The program is free but pre-registration is required. Registration forms are available by calling Pat Fitzpatrick, Bereavement Services Coordinator at 315-331-7990 or 800-562-1650.

Kathy W. is opening "Organize 4 U", a personal and professional organization company. Do you need help organizing: closets, kitchen, playroom, laundry room, garage, home office, workplace, whole house? Call Kathy at "Organize 4 U" .

Macedon Boy Scout Troop #167 will hold their Annual Spaghetti Dinner on March 5, 2005 at the Macedon Center United Methodist Church at 1160 Macedon Center Road. They will be serving from 4-7:30 p.m. and tickets are priced $6, $5 for Senior Citizens, $4 for children 5-12, under 5 free. Takeouts are available.

Collection of used greeting cards (verse and all) and used postage stamps used for the Veterans is an ongoing thing. The stamps are used for collectors and crafts. The cards are used by cutting parts and verses to make 500 to 600 cards for all holidays for the veterans in Canandaigua, both Bickford House and others. They are very much enjoyed by them. Valentine's Day is over, now its Easter cards. It's an ongoing thing and your used cards make that possible. They thank you and we thank you. The box is in the Fellowship Hall down stairs year around. Marion V.
