"A FAMILY CHURCH WITH A COMMUNITY SPIRIT"                                                         JANUARY 2005

HAPPY

NEW YEAR!

Reports for the Annual Report are due to Sue D no later than Sunday, January 9th. Please put in Sue's mailbox. Thanks!

We're on the web!!!! After a year (or more?) of talking about it, the First Baptist Church of Macedon now has a website. While it’s not complete, it will continue to grow over the next weeks and months. Check it out at http://www.fbcmacedon.org

In addition to the website, there are a number of new emails to contact church staff for church business. Please change your address books to reflect these. Pastor Carol - pastor-carol@fbcmacedon.org; Office Assistant, Vera C. - vera@fbcmacedon.org; Church Secretary, Sue D. - sue@fbcmacedon.org; Web Administrator - robbin@fbcmacedon.org; Youth Minister, Jessica Dawalt - jessica@fbcmacedon.org; Minister of Visitation, David V - david@fbcmacedon.org. There are also e-mailing lists for the boards and various other groups. These e-mailing lists are a single email address that will send a copy of a given email to all members of the group. For example: trustees@fbcmacedon.org. Check out the Contact Us link on the web page for a complete list of groups. Note also on that page the list of names following a mailing list name - those are people that do not have email and so will not be contacted if you send email to a mailing list. I'd like to add more groups (Philathea? prayer chain? whole church?) as they become useful or needed. Please share good ideas you might have about how to better use the website or e-mailing lists. Let's use this new tool to further the work of our Lord through this church. Robbin

This is an ongoing project for them "Campbell's Labels for Education." Thanks! Gladys D.

Crop Walk 2005! Vicky D, Crop Walk organizer, asks each church to commit to the 05/01/05 Crop Walk in a tangible, practical way - by naming our representatives to the Crop Walk Committee ASAP, and getting those names to her (bvdaly@hotmail.com) ASAP. Pastor Carol

Kudos to the choir, narrators, soloists, musicians, Board of Christian Education, tableau kids and Mr. & Mrs. C. for a memorable Christmas Sunday!

Shalom Carol & Dana and the church family! You Macedonians have been faithful and generous in the annual RMMO. Carol & Rai now benefit therefrom and we are most grateful! Every year! Please know we continue to pray for you and your leaders. We also enjoy the newsletters which keeps us current. We have grateful hearts for your support! Carol & Rai

Dear Church Family, I want to say thank you to Pastor Carol and everyone who sent cards and called after my fall. Also to Philathea for the plant. It really meant a lot. I am making progress and slowly working on bending my knee. Shirley S

Joys & Concerns: Joys:  Thanks to the congregation for your generous response of the "Operation Christmas Child" boxes – we sent out 40 boxes!! Thanks also to Cheryl R for organizing this mission.  Jason and Amy B gave birth to their third child on December 5. Isabella Grace weighed in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. And all are doing well! Prayer Concerns: Katrina C had to see a back specialist. Has had pain for many months. Heather S, friend of Sam's, underwent a successful bone marrow transplant. Thanks be to God! Doug A is home recovering from hip replacement surgery on November 2. Judy W, Joyce's dear friend, underwent surgery on her kidneys for an 80% blockage. She is home recovering. Holli H is having foot problems. Ray P, Vera's uncle, is currently in Hospice. Aria B, co-worker of Angela D, underwent surgery for breast cancer. Bill S was hospitalized at Clifton Springs for a dangerously low hemoglobin count. He is currently at home. John R, a friend of Bruce's, is undergoing chemo for inoperable brain cancer. Luiza T will be having surgery on her neck. Bob M, a friend of the Bob & Barb, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Fred Tarrence (Robbin) has liver cancer that is spreading. Dan D, friend of Kathy W, is undergoing chemotherapy and had some complications but is at home and currently doing well. Kathy W underwent minor surgery. Kira G had a tonsillectomy on December 13. Mark W, friend of Tim H, is battling cancer. Christian Sympathy is extended to: family and friends of William D who went home to the Lord on November 18 and to family and friends of Lisa K, Barb F's cousin who passed away. Our sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Cathy C, a young mother from Mom's Club, which meets in our church, who died very suddenly from a brain aneurysm.

To the Macedon Baptist Church: "In this remembering season, teach me to be thankful for my memories. Show me how to find joy in the good ones, to learn from the difficult ones, remind me again and again of the reason this season is really worth remembering… ‘for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son'." God Bless You, Love Phyllis We certainly were grateful to be able to travel to Palmyra to see Jane when she was in the hospital and operated on for appendicitis in November. All her family are grateful for your care and love shown her. Phyllis S

Women's Ministries News: We will be having our January meeting at Jane C's home on January 19th at 7 p.m. Ruth W will be doing the program. Thank you Pat B for hosting the Christmas party at your home. We had a big turn out and glad to see some new guests. We invite them to come again. We had so much food to eat and it was a lot of fun trying to guess who our Kris Kringle was. Thanks Pat for a great program (I shop therefore I am). Our January program will be a surprise. Get Rid of Distractions. Sometimes you may just need to clear away the clutter, so you can clearly see what is worthwhile. Here is a simple suggestion. Don't keep more than you can take care of. If you have so much stuff in your home that it takes you hours to dust it, get rid of something. Find a big carton and write "Blessing Box" on the side of it. Start putting extra things into it until cleaning is more manageable. Betty S

Calling Retired Nurses: Fairport Baptist Homes needs you- trouble filling B shift, 3-11, results in higher costs for agency nurses. If you would work a B shift one/two days weekly or monthly, please phone 585-377-0350 and ask for Jeff at Human Resources. Pastor Carol

Dear Pastor: For 100 years, Fairport Baptist Homes has been true to its credo of "serving the aging who shaped our heritage." Full partners in support of that sacred mission have been American Baptist Churches, and their commitment has been crucial to the way we carry out our task as we heed the call to "embody God's love in word and deed." We are most appreciative of your contribution of $1,000.00 and Fairport Baptist Homes pledges to you that we will do all in our power to use your gift wisely and well for the benefit of our Residents. Sincerely, Rev. Garth, President

"And the work of righteousness shall be peace." Isaiah 32:17 Dear Friends: The Overland White Cross materials you sent have been received. Thank you for sharing with our ministry. Thank you for the package of wonderful supplies. Warm clothing is so important this time of year when heating costs stretch already tight budgets. Your support keeps us serving with hope. We wish you the peace of the season. Karen D & and all the Cameron Staff

Andover Newton Theological School gratefully acknowledges your gift of $115.00 for the Fund for Andover Newton. Diane R, Sr. Admin. Assist. For Development

Dear Pastor, Members of F.U.M.C. "Drive-By" Prayer Team pass through your town every work day. As they "drive-by" they pray for you! They pray for your church! And they pray for the impact that you have in your community for the cause of Christ! We hope this encourages you! Kathy B- Prayer Director Farmington United Methodist Church prayer@www.thrivingservants.org

Do you have three hours free once a month? If you answered YES to this question, then The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI-Goodwill) has the opportunity for you! If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering, please call Jen, Volunteer Coordinator at 585-697-5718.
