Update from the 2011 Deacon Board

Your Board of Deacons has been working faithfully to further the spiritual needs of the First Baptist Church family. We were able to help out many parishioners with their needs during this holiday season, and we’re excited that this included so many in these economic times. We also recognized some of our lovely people by baking mini bread loaves as gifts during our family dinner.

The nominating committee is working to fill some vacancies on our board that will be left from some of the current faithful members leaving after their term has been completed. New members will be welcomed to our board and we are sure that they will bring exciting energy into the group to replace the loss.

Some of the business that will be addressed by our board in the coming year will be such things as discussion on a Faith at Work program, Big Brother/Big Sister forum, updating name tags for the congregation, a directory for 2012 and many more.

We have also updated our Worship Leader procedures. We felt that there should be more focus on the spirit of the worship from our worship leaders, and so have revamped the letter sent to our worship leaders to follow. We know this will better serve our faithful.

In January of 2012, we hope to have each week’s ushers and greeters be representatives from one of our boards to help the congregation better recognize those who help manage our church family. And in this coming year, please feel free to approach one of the deacons if you feel that they can be of help to you.
